These handcrafted earrings are made from copper clay and feature a beautifully textured surface that adds depth and character. Each earring has been hand-painted in shimmering turquoise and green metallic paints, creating a striking finish that catches the light. They hang from rose gold plated ear wires with the option to upgrade to sterling silver ear wires +£3 and add contrast to the rich copper tones. 

Earring length 2.6cm., width 3cm., drop length 5cm.

These earrings were made by hand using copper metal clay—a malleable material composed of fine copper particles, an organic binder, and water. Here’s how they were crafted.

The copper clay was rolled out and a texture was then pressed into the surface using a texture mat.

Once shaped and textured, the earrings were left to dry completely. After drying, the edges and surfaces were refined by hand—sanding and smoothing to remove any imperfections and to ensure a clean, crisp shape.

The dried pieces were then fired in a kiln at high temperature. During firing, the binder burns away, and the copper particles fuse together into solid metal. This transforms the earrings from a clay-like state into pure, durable copper.

After firing and cooling, the earrings were hand-painted with layers of green metallic paints. These paints were carefully applied and sealed to protect the finish and enhance the colours.

Copper jewellery does tarnish but can be polished with a soft cloth to bring it back to it’s original colour.
