Glass Bowl Aventurine Blue and Pea Green Kiln formed 20cm

Description

These amazing dishes are an adventure to create. Clear flat sheet glass is covered with sifted glass powders, rich green and sparkling aventurine blue and compressed to blend the design and fired to 780c. The piece is shaped by laying the glass on a ceramic ring, heating slowly and allowing it to stretch through the hole, it has to be watched carefully until it reaches the desired height (this can take hours) and then the waste glass from the rim is removed and smoothed to reveal a fine glass vessel. There is jeopardy at each stage which makes the whole process so rewarding and a joy to complete, this one has a round base so comes with a wee wooden stand allowing it to sit straight or at a jaunty angle
