Description
These sweet vases are a joy to make.
Squares of clear glass are decorated with glass powders and fired in the kiln. These pieces are then stacked with another two layers of clear and french vanilla glass and fired again. The slab is then placed on a ceramic ring and placed on pillars in the kiln. As the heat rises slowly the glass softens and stretches through the hole at around 690c. I then need to peek in the kiln at regular intervals to see when the glass “touches down” to make the base. Once cooled the vases is cut off the rim of excess glass and the edge made smooth before being sandblasted.
