Description

These amazing dishes are an adventure to create. Clear flat sheet glass is covered with sifted glass powders, dense white and french vanilla which blend and react magically to create the third when fired to 780cc. The piece is shaped by laying the fired patterned glass on a ceramic ring and heated slowly and allowed to stretch through the hole, it has to be watched carefully until it reaches the desired height (this can take hours).  The waste glass from the rim is removed and smoothed to reveal a fine glass vessel which is the sand blasted to create a soft sheen. There is jeopardy at each stage which makes the whole process so rewarding and a joy to complete
