Description
This etched copper bangle has been created in a vintage/art nouveau style pattern work incorporating the following completely original imagery:
Owls (pictures 1), Woodpecker (pictures 2-4), Eagle (picture 5-7), Bird on wing (pictures 8-9)
Sizes: The standard size of this cuff is 5cm/2 inch (depth) x 16cm/6.2 inch (circumference) and it is made from 1mm thick pure copper sheet. It is also available in small (14cm/5.5 inch), large (18cm/7 inch) and extra large (20cm/7.9 inch) wrist sizes. You can let me know your preferred size in the notes at checkout if you wish.
Finishes: The photos 1-9 show the heat coloured version of this cuff, it is also available in oxidised and natural finishes. (these are illustrated in photo 10, the top example showing the oxidised finish and the bottom example showing the natural finish)
About Heat Coloured finishes: Copper is heated with a torch flame to create a vibrant multicoloured patina: this will change over time and adapt uniquely to it’s wearer. I have developed a technique of literally ‘painting’ with a flame to manipulate the shape and direction of the colours. Although there is a degree of control, each piece is unique, as the colour patina cannot be replicated exactly. I do recommend that items with this finish are treated as costume jewellery, wearing occasionally rather than all the time, as this will affect the colours of the patina more dramatically. As these are hand made and finished, the will be some difference in the placement and variety of colours from piece to piece. Photo’s are exemplar images rather than the actual piece you will receive.
Oxidised finish: This finish is created by immersing in an oxidising chemical, which blackens the entire piece. it is then sanded back to reveal the etched image, and polished to create a lustrous shine. I recommend this finish if you intend to wear your piece more frequently.
Natural finish: This is untreated natural copper which is polished to create a lustrous shine. As copper is a mutable material, it will change colour over time, so will require some cleaning if you wish to keep it’s original, bright copper appearance. I recommend this finish if you intend to wear your cuff on a regular basis.
colour patination and etch may vary slightly from example shown
