£465.00

Large sitting Hare Sculpture in cold cast pewter (metal and resin) for your home.

Say hello to ‘Moon-lit’ Harriet Hare … She is a rather special and intricately detailed sculpture which has been entirely handmade in the far north of Cumbria by Sculptor Kirsty Armstrong. The limited edition is made up of 150 pieces (which are now all sold), plus four Artist’s copies, of which this very last cold-cast pewter Harriet is number four.

The processing time from ordering to dispatch is currently 1 week.

At 16” (40cm) to her tallest ear, this almost life-size Hare Sculpture has been created in cold-cast pewter. This particular Hare sculpture is only suitable for inside use.

Harriet reflects the ancient connection between the Hare and the Moon and represents new beginnings and good fortune, making her an ideal hand fasting, wedding or anniversary.

Description

Harriet Hare would certainly create a unique focal point in any room or garden. She is a figurative representation of the much loved brown hare, which is native to the British countryside as well as being an ancient Pagan symbol (representing new beginnings, growth, abundance, fertility, rebirth and good fortune!)

The original Harriet was hand sculpted in wax using traditional sculpting methods by me, Kirsty Armstrong, and I’ve been a sculptor for more than 35 years. Harriet is anatomically correct with my unique stylised fur detail applied over the top. This limited edition is now drawing to a close with all of the 150 pieces now sold, and only two artist’s copy left available (this listing in cold-cast pewter and one more in cold-cast iron).

Moon-lit’ Harriet, in cold-cast pewter (metal and resin) with a silver nitrate effect patina (resembles old silver)

‘Rusty’  Harriet, in cold-cast iron (metal and resin) with highlights in ‘foundry bronze’ and ‘gold’ metallic waxes.

Both versions of Harriet have enamelled eyes.

I use a moulding and casting company just 30 miles from my studio to produce Harriet. The unfinished casts are then collected and I begin the process of bringing the Harriets to life. I polish, finish and pack each piece myself by hand…

Harriet’s vital statistics…

Harriet is 16” (40cm) to her tallest ear, making her almost life size

She weighs approximately 6kg, and her packed parcel weight is a hefty 8kg

From each Harriet sold I donate an amount to the Hare Preservation Trust which helps protect Hares and to educate the public.

How long will my Harriet take to make?…

Harriet is entirely made by hand. Please take note of the processing time at the point of ordering. I’ll keep you updated along your Harriet’s journey.

Delivery…
Harriet is shipped in her own purpose built rigid packaging and dispatched using Royal Mail next day special delivery. This is included in the price.
