Description
A granny square crochet temperature blanket is a unique and sentimental project that captures the daily temperature of a specific location over the course of a year, resulting in a beautiful and meaningful keepsake.
This type of blanket is created by crocheting small, colorful granny squares, with each square representing a single day. The colours of the squares correspond to a predetermined temperature scale, which assigns different yarn colours to temperature ranges.
Each day, the high and low temperature is recorded, and a granny square is crocheted using the colour that matches that temperature range.
The squares can be made using a traditional granny square pattern.
These individual squares are then joined together in a layout that reflects the days, weeks, and months of the year.
To personalize the blanket further, some crafters add special embellishments or variations, such as:
This project is a long-term commitment, requiring dedication and consistency, but the end result is a stunning, one-of-a-kind piece that tells a visual story of the year through color and texture.
The finished blanket is not only a cozy and warm heirloom but also a symbol of time, nature, and personal dedication—a tangible reflection of the passing seasons.
