Striking, detailed textile study of a bearded iris.
The deep purple, velvet contrasts superbly with the softer petals in pastel shades of lilac and pink.
The pastel petals have been hand painted on white satin to great effect.
Free machine embroidery is used for texture and definition.
The background is a textural triumph of contrasting greens with suggestions of more irises at the back.
It is finished with a 4 ins. simple patchwork hem in complementary greens. The rest is bound in a narrow purple batik fabric.
This is an original work of art made solely by myself.
It is signed and dated on the reverse.
Comes with hanging sleeve attached to back.
A hanging baton is included with this piece.
It has been treated with a fabric spray to reduce sun damage
