Description
This amazing dish was such fun to make. Clear flat sheet glass was covered with sifted glass powders, french vanilla, pink and spring green blended to create the design, the additional darker colour appears once the glass is fired to 780c. The piece is shaped by laying the glass on a ceramic ring and heating it very slowly to allow the softened glass to stretch through the hole, it has to be watched carefully until it reaches the desired height (this can take hours) and then the excess glass form the rim glass is removed and smoothed to reveal a fine glass vessel. I then sand blast the surface. It can all go horribly wrong if any of the stages are misjudged which is half the fun
