Riding Stirrup Iron & Wooden Door Knocker – Unique & Handmade In The UK

Description

The idea for this item came from a customer who purchased one of my towel holders, but to be used as a door knocker. I was concerned about how the leather strap might be damaged by the weather but the customer tells me it’s still good a couple of year later. On reflection however, I decided to replace the strap with more durable stainless steel clips.

The timber is sanded smooth and then two coats of polyurethane varnish is applied to enhance, retain and protect that lovely natural character from the elements. Three stainless steel studs are mounted beneath where the stirrup contacts the board to amplify the ‘knock, knock’ sound so you have no excuses for not hearing when someone calls 🙂

The door knocker can be screwed to a wooden door or fixed to plastic or steel doors using strong double sided tape such as Gorilla Mounting Tape (not supplied).

There is a choice of angled or curved ends to the timber board.

Country & Western inspired, this would make a great gift for any fan of Yellowstone or the Wild West.

This product is handmade by myself in my home based workshop, using only hand tools and small workshop machinery.
