Description
This little pendant and earrings are individually handmade with traditional silversmithing techniques with the addition of an intricate and ancient wirework technique known as filigree. Each began as one length of wire which I formed into the floral outlines and then filled with the delicate twisted wires.
The art of filigree goes back as far as 3000BC and was used in many ancient civilisations. I am really enjoying learning and practicing some of those techniques handed down over time, whilst adding my own contemporary ideas.
It is a very detailed and time consuming process, producing such delicate and beautiful results. Tiny wires of silver and/or gold are twisted, flattened and formed into shapes which come together to make some lovely jewellery and ornamentation.
This item is completely handmade from recycled sterling silver, including the twisted fine filigree wires.
