Workshop Botanical Printing on Paper Silk and Linen Southwold

Discover the joys of botanical printing with Suffolk textile artist Marian May.
Times: 10am-4pm

During this day long workshop, you will learn how to create gorgeous textiles by printing onto paper, silk and linen using real leaves and flowers.

What is covered:
~ mordanting – preparation of the fabric;
~ how to choose the leaves that will print well;
~ using a natural dye blanket and an iron blanket;
~ bundling techniques
~ creating a natural dye bath using extracts
~ how to keep records so that you can continue to learn and get consistent results

You will end the day with a beautiful silk scarf, a piece of linen which you can later sew into a cushion or table runner or a bag, and a piece of paper which could be framed or cut up to create gorgeous unique handmade cards.
