Description
This delicate wee dish is made using a “drop out” technique. Clear glass is covered with layers of coloured powdered glass and the design is marked into the powder with a variety of tools. The piece of glass is placed on a ceramic doughnut and then placed on tall props. Once it is placed in the kiln it is fired to around 690c. The glass then watched as it stretches through the hole, once it reaches the perfect shape the kiln is cooled. The bowl is then cut from the frame and the edges smoothed by hand. These bowls have a rounded bottom.
