Handmade Sterling Silver Keepsake Acorn Pendant with Hidden Ashes Compartment
Large statement acorn pendant handcrafted in solid 925 sterling silver using traditional silver clay techniques. Designed to discreetly and securely hold a keepsake such as ashes within a hidden resin compartment, this pendant is a heartfelt and symbolic memorial piece inspired by nature’s quiet strength and renewal.
🔨 How it’s made
Each pendant is made to order and begins with a smooth, sculpted acorn body formed from recycled sterling silver clay. The design is based on a real acorn I discovered on a family woodland walk. I created a two-part silicone mould—one for the acorn body and one for its textured cup—to capture every natural detail.
The sterling silver clay is carefully pressed into these moulds and left to dry completely. Once dried, a hole is drilled precisely into the centre of the acorn body to allow for later assembly.
Both parts are then kiln-fired, transforming the clay into solid sterling silver. After firing, I solder a 1mm thick sterling silver wire into the drilled hole. This wire runs vertically into the pendant and connects to a 10mm round hoop at the top, which acts as a strong, oversized bail—perfect for accommodating a wide variety of chains, including thicker styles.
The textured acorn “cup” is separately cast and designed to sit loosely atop the acorn body. Although it can move slightly for a natural, organic feel, it cannot come off the pendant due to the securely fixed central wire and hoop construction.
Once assembled, the entire piece is given a patina using liver of sulphur to create an antique finish and enhance the depth of detail. The high points are polished by hand, and the pendant is then placed into a tumbling machine to be work-hardened and further polished to a bright shine—while the recessed areas remain softly darkened for added texture and character.
The pendant is fully UK hallmarked, including my maker’s mark, to guarantee authenticity and quality.
Only after hallmarking is complete, I carefully set your keepsake, such as cremation ashes or another tiny memento, into a hidden compartment at the top of the acorn, beneath the cup. The keepsake is secured in clear resin, which is protected and discreetly concealed by the detailed acorn cup above.
🇬🇧 Craftsmanship & Finish
Made using silver clay and traditional metalsmithing techniques, this pendant showcases natural textures and small handmade variations, which are embraced as part of its artisan character. It’s finished with a black liver of sulphur patina to bring out the details, with high points polished and recessed areas left softly satin-matt for a well-loved antique feel.
Each pendant is slow-crafted in my studio from eco-conscious silver and made with deep care and attention.

All jewellery comes beautifully presented in a branded Sterling Ash Designs soft pouch, accompanied by tissue paper, a silver cleaning cloth, and a care card to help you keep your piece looking its best for years to come.
To reduce environmental impact, multiple purchased items may be packaged together. If you’d prefer each item to be individually wrapped, please leave a note at checkout and I’ll be happy to arrange that for you.

Free shipping within the UK and items are sent via Royal Mail Special Delivery by 1pm. Please be aware these times are estimates only and I cannot offer any guarantee on delivery times once it’s in the hands of the postal service.
🎁 Gifting and Gift Wrapping
If you are purchasing as a gift then you have the option for a free gift card to be hand written and added in along with your gift, please add details in the Handwritten Giftcard box above.
Upgrading to gift wrapping for £1.00 includes having the box or pouch that the gift is placed in being wrapped in a complimenting style paper with a ribbon around. It is then placed in the outer cardboard box with all the additional care cards, tissue paper and silver cleaning cloth as mentioned above.

Thank you for supporting my small business. Once your order is placed, I will begin processing it as soon as possible. Processing times vary depending on the range and are listed below. If you’ve ordered multiple items, they will be shipped together based on the longest processing time.
While I always strive to dispatch orders quickly, please be aware that during busy periods I may need the full time listed. If there is ever a delay beyond the stated timeframe, I will email you in advance.

Box & Postage Note:
Only two jewellery gift boxes fit per delivery package. If you require more boxes, or if you are ordering from outside the UK or upgrading your delivery, additional postage fees may apply. If unsure, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Refund Policy
RETURNS & CONDITIONS
Please note that unless an item is damaged or faulty, I am not legally obliged to accept returns for personalised or custom-made items that cannot be resold. This includes the entire Sterling Ash Designs range, all sized rings, wedding bands, commissions, and other personalised items across my collections.
DAMAGED OR FAULTY ITEMS
If your parcel arrives visibly damaged, please take clear photographs BEFORE opening the packaging. Once opened, take additional photos of the item and any damage. This helps support any postal claims and ensures a swift resolution.
If you believe your item is faulty, please get in touch with detailed photographs of the issue so I can assess and advise.

NON-FAULTY RETURNS
Postage Costs:
Buyers are responsible for the cost of return postage unless the item is confirmed as faulty or damaged (as above). I strongly recommend using a tracked postal service.
Item Condition:
Returns must be unworn, in their original condition, and returned with undamaged original packaging. Any reduction in value due to wear, damage, or missing packaging will be deducted from your refund.
International Returns:
Clearly mark the package as ‘RETURNED GOODS’ to help avoid unnecessary customs fees.
Proof of Postage:
Obtain and keep a receipt or proof of postage from your Post Office.
