These handmade beach sand buttons are created using real sand collected from Bains Beach, one of Shetland’s most recognisable beaches. The sand is set into layered resin, capturing the colours and textures of sea, surf and shoreline in miniature, button-sized seascapes.

Bains Beach is well known as a filming location for the BBC TV series Shetland, making these buttons a meaningful keepsake for fans of the show as well as lovers of Shetland’s landscape. Each button is individually handmade, with gentle variations in colour and pattern reflecting the ever-changing nature of the beach.

Ideal for knitting, sewing, textile art or craft projects, these buttons also work beautifully as small decorative pieces inspired by the sea.

Welcome to my latest button design! Inspired by the latest TV series ‘ SHETLAND’.

The sand used to make these buttons is from a tiny beach (see photo) in Lerwick which featured on the TV show at the home of fictional detective jimmy Perez.

I offer 2 sizes. Small 20mm and Medium 25mm They are sold as a matching pair.
