Description
These delightful Plaid inspired glass bowls are created using the kiln forming drop out technique rather than simple slumping. Clear glass is decorated using powdered glass and each side is fired in the kiln at 780c. That flat piece is placed back in the kiln on a ceramic ring and heated and held to allow the glass to stretch through the hole. It has to be closely monitored until it reaches the desired shape. Once cooled the excess glass form the rim is cut off and the edges ground smooth and the piece is then sandblasted. It is now ready to display.
