Solid Oak Collaboration Mantel Clock with Millefiori Artwork

Description

This contemporary solid oak mantel clock forms part of a special collaboration between The Humble Woodshed and fellow gallery artist Bridget Derc.

Handcrafted from solid oak and finished with sharp chamfered edges to both front and rear faces, the warm natural grain of the timber contrasts beautifully against the vibrant handcrafted centrepiece artwork.

The intricate polymer clay insert is individually handmade by Bridget Derc using a highly skilled millefiori-inspired technique traditionally associated with Venetian and Murano glasswork. The process involves blending coloured polymer clay before carefully layering, shaping, reducing and slicing patterned canes to create detailed geometric and kaleidoscope-style designs.

Inspired by textile repeat patterns, mosaics and Islamic geometry, each centrepiece is completely unique, ensuring that no two clocks are ever exactly alike.

Laser-engraved numerals and elegant black hands complete the clean contemporary aesthetic while allowing the colourful centrepiece artwork to remain the focal point of the piece.

More than simply a clock, this collaboration celebrates two different crafts brought together through a shared passion for handmade design, detail and artistry.
