Vendor Biography

Hello, I’m Juliet of Absolutely Clay Pottery, a one girl small business band based UK maker based just outside Manchester.

I design, make, and market the ceramics that I would want to use everyday from my gorgeous studio in Cheshire. Close attention is always given to all making stages of each piece to ensure high quality while maintaining the integrity of handmade and individuality. This is important to me – I’m making work to be used and I’m making work to not to get broken and replaced. I want my pottery to be with you for a long, long time.

I work in small batches, mainly using the potters’ wheel, in a strong and durable stoneware clay. My handmade, wheel-thrown ceramics is twice fired in my kiln, the glaze firing reaches 1260C. Each item I make is handled and checked by me throughout all of the many making stages before being offered up to you and becoming part of your lives.

What inspires my work …. My love of working in clay and people, people, people, being outdoors and everything natural, old pots, new pots, other potters, artists, everything and everybody. My head is whirling with ideas but there’s only so much time! The main thing I try and do is to make ceramics that folk with love to use each day; pots that will give pleasure to people when they use them. I want my work to be used, enjoyed and shared, and not have time to gather dust.

I parcel up my pottery as carefully as I make them, when they begin their journey to you. I can not see the point of risking them being damaged after all the time and care I take in making them.  Yes, it has been said that I go over the top with the amount of packing material I use, much of which is pre-loved that surrounds the lovingly gift wrapped and boxed pottery that I’m posting out. I want my ceramics to arrive into your life safely.  I am also very happy to send my work directly to someone you wish to gift it too with a message from yourself.

However I ONLY make things for ….. People who don’t fit the mould. weren’t made in a mould so why should you and your friends and loved ones live with things that are made in moulds. You are a ‘one off’, ‘unique’, ‘awesome’, so why accept mould made things in your life. I don’t use moulds. My work is FOR the unmoulded ….. my ceramics is for YOU.
