Functional Art:Objects that combine aesthetics with practical purpose, designed to be used in everyday life whilst also being visually appealing.
Thank you so much for visiting Carbon64 Craftwork, my home-based artisan business born out of a passion for creating special objects that are both highly practical and beautiful to look at. I am incredibly excited to be a part of The British Craft House, sharing their passion for quality UK-made goods and their mission to provide a “curated, not crowded” marketplace for independent makers.
The Story Behind the Name
If you’re wondering about the name Carbon64 Craftwork, it holds a deeply personal meaning for me. It is a tribute to my parents, who sadly passed away when I was a child, and a nod to my dad, who worked at a colliery.
It also represents the fundamental, elemental connection between the materials I use and us as humans. Carbon is the building block of all known life on Earth—it is the core of who we are, and it is what gives life to the timber I shape. Even the metals I work with are historically bound to the coal and carbon processes required to refine and forge raw ore into something strong and lasting. It is a shared connection between the maker, the material, and the person who brings the finished piece into their home.
The Craft & Materials
Using raw materials like solid woods and various metals—as well as lovingly repurposing vintage items—I create unusual, character-rich, and often completely unique pieces for your home or for you to give as special gifts.
Absolutely everything you see in my shop has been handcrafted by me in my home workshop, using traditional hand tools and small machinery. Most importantly, nothing here is mass-produced.
Made for You
The items in my store are typically limited-quantity, made-to-order, or one-of-a-kind unique pieces. You can find the specific details and shipping times within each individual product description.
Because I am the sole maker, I am always delighted to discuss custom commissions. If you would like a bespoke size, style, or a completely new design tailored just for you, please get in touch! I will always respond as quickly as I can.
Thank you again for taking the time to browse through my store, and if you do decide to buy something I’ve made, thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting a small British maker.
Take care,
Craig
P.S.By the way, that profile picture isn’t me… that’s Harrison. He’s much more visually appealing! 🐶
