Who we are

We’re AJ and Mila, designers and makers based in Bristol, UK, creating handmade leather and gemstone jewellery from our small studio. Every Freak Like Me piece is designed to celebrate individuality and self-expression.

How our bracelets are made

Our cuffs are handcrafted using surplus leather originally produced for larger fashion houses, giving exceptional materials a second life rather than letting them go to waste. We pair this with high-grade, ethically sourced gemstones selected individually for their quality and character. Mila is a registered silversmith, AJ brings a background in design, and together we create small-batch pieces with intention, care, and character.

Why Freak Like Me exists

Freak Like Me was born from our own journey of feeling different and learning to embrace it. We believe that uniqueness isn’t something to hide, it’s something to honour. Each gemstone grows differently, each leather hide develops its own marks, and each finished piece carries its own personality.

What makes our bracelets unique

Our bracelets are designed as a modular system, with interchangeable gemstones that can be worn across any of our five leather strap colours. As your collection grows, so do your options, allowing you to select a gemstone and leather colour inspired by your mood, your outfit, or the moment. Designed to evolve rather than be replaced, our bracelets celebrate individuality, sustainability and self-expression over time. Every order is carefully packaged, ready to gift for birthdays, anniversaries, or meaningful moments that call for something unique and personal.

A little more about us

Beyond the studio, Mila is also a registered hypnotherapist and a final-year psychology student, currently completing a part-time placement with a charity. Her work is rooted in healing, self-acceptance, and supporting those affected by childhood trauma and CPTSD, values that quietly inform the heart of Freak Like Me.

When AJ isn’t designing, you’ll usually find him on his motorbike, weather permitting. It’s where he clears his head and reconnects with a sense of freedom and flow.

Our ethos is simple: difference isn’t a defect; it’s a design feature. Freak Like Me exists to champion individuality in its most natural form, beautifully imperfect and unapologetically unique.
