Hi, and welcome to Lisa Reeve Designs, Textiles & Botanicals where free motion embroidery meets botanical drawing.

Hi I’m Lisa a textile and botanical artist based in a lovely village near Norwich and I love to create textile art inspired by flowers, cottage gardens and coastal landscapes.

Inspiration for my work comes from the countryside around me, maybe from a walk, my own garden, a wildflower meadow or a single bloom.

My work is very delicate and intricate layering different fabric colours and textures, using applique and free motion machine embroidery to create the detail. I describe my technique as drawing with thread, using my free motion sewing skills to create flowers and pictures. I like to use fine ink drawn detail on my greetings cards with appliqued fabric detail and this has become my signature style my favourite fabric to work with being floral printed Liberty cottons.

My work makes lovely thoughtful gifts for any flower lover. To make the art even more special I offer gift wrap and some of pieces can be personalised using free motion embroidery with a message of choice.

A little bit of my history…..I have been using a machine sewing since I was around 10 years old, learning from my mum. I was desperate to make my own clothes just as she did and I was doing this by age 11! I went to Art School to study Fashion then on to become a professional dressmaker making bespoke clothes and beautiful wedding dresses.

I have always loved creating pictures from fabric and had made quite a few for family and friends. Then a lovely gift from my husband of a botanical drawing class encouraged me to pursue botanical drawing and watercolour alongside my textile art and I found I enjoyed merging all these mediums together.
