Vendor Biography

Hello! We’re Chris & Ian — a creative couple making small-batch, handmade ceramics from our tiny home studio in the Highlands of Scotland.

I (Chris) work mostly in stoneware and porcelain, handbuilding each piece with care in the quiet of our home studio. Health reasons mean I don’t drive, so working from home suits me well — I love the peaceful rhythm of solitary making. That said, I also really enjoy connecting with customers and students who share a love for clay and handmade things.

Ian fits in the occasional thrown pot between his day job, walking our two rescue hounds in the hills, and cooking while I clay. He’s also excellent at coffee breaks.

Meet the makers and their dogs by the kiln shed.
Ian slam wedging some clay – a rare picture of me in front of the camera – the kiln shed for Dante (my kiln) – our beloved studio dogs Abby and Bruno.

My work is inspired by colour, nature, art, textiles, and the beautifully imperfect character of all things handmade. I draw on techniques from my earlier creative chapters — painting, mixed media, and sculpture — and I try to pour warmth, joy, and personality into everything I make. Each piece is a small expression of a story, a memory, or an emotion — sometimes light, sometimes layered, but always from the heart.

If something here makes you smile, feel free to message us! You can also follow along on Instagram or Facebook, or subscribe to our newsletter for shop updates, new releases, and peeks behind the scenes.

We run our own website in parallel with our shop here on The British Craft House. Our own site will be mainly for pottery and locally run workshops, whereas our shop here will be for gift related items.  We love being part of this fabulously creative community and hope that you will find something to your liking in either our shop or in one of the many other brilliant vendors on this site.

Pop the kettle on and join us as we get our hands into clay — we’d love to have you along for the journey.
