Vendor Biography

Hello, I’m delighted you have found The Little Loop Company here on the fabulous British Craft House.

  • Who is behind The Little Loop Company

My name is Anna, and I have always had handmade craft and art in my life in some form or another. My father was an exceptionally creative potter, handmaking pottery with a potters wheel and handmaking moulds from plaster of paris to create dinnerware for his clients. My Mother was the artist painting beautiful scenic scenes from the landscape around us, where we lived in Ireland at the time.

I have dabbled in many forms of art and craft over the years. Now I consider myself a textile artist specialising in the medium of micro crochet. The Little Loop Company was founded almost 2 years ago. As with many art creations, this began as a way to distract myself.

I use tiny little crochet hooks as small as 0.5 mm, along with sewing and embroidery threads, to create miniature art.

I love to reuse and recycle as much as I can. I often thrift sewing supplies at second-hand shops. There are so many wonderful ways to reuse these beautiful threads, and I love the idea that they sat in someone’s sewing box, bringing years of joy to them and their loved ones.

A service I am developing is Little Legacy Loops. This is a service for families that find themselves with inherited threads they don’t know what to do with. It may be due to an older loved one downsizing, unable to use their crafts due to mobility or sight or even due to sadly passing on. These threads are chosen to create wearable art for other members of the family.

Recycling, reusing and reliving the joy these threads gave to a loved one, while being able to have a piece of them with you every time you wear the chosen items.

My inspiration comes from life around me. Nature, seasons, everyday items, but in miniature, the loves and likes of my family, children and friends. Creating items people love makes my heart happy!

Why Micro Crochet, you may ask?

My brain is very, very, busy! After trialling crochet, I discovered micro crochet, and this medium calmed my mind and slowed everything right down. So I practised more and more as it felt so wonderful to have some peace up there.

Then, one day, a dear friend asked me to make her a pair of earrings to purchase them and then suggested I hold a stall at some markets. I laughed, of course, at this absurd idea, but because I wasn’t crocheting at the time, my brain latched onto the idea and designed a multi-million £ micro crocheting empire in my head. (#ADHD #IYKYK)

Anyhoo, micro crochet stuck, and now it is what I do. While TLLC is not a multi-million £ empire, it is a beautiful little business that continues to calm my mind and bring joy to those who choose the items I create.

Professional disassociation via the medium of micro crochet!

What handmade means to me

Art is often linked to an individual finding their creative side. Each maker’s art is intimately personal to them. While we love making pretty things, there is always a reason we began. It is often related to the need to find ourselves again, due to a time that tried us beyond what we could have imagined. A time that made us lose ourselves or parts of ourselves. The art we found to light that spark within us again is linked to both the trial where the growth happened and the present where we celebrate who we are now. So when we share our art and offer it to be purchased, there are memories attached to the pieces.
