Vivid Vixen Jewellery

Vendor Biography

Hello, and welcome to Vivid Vixen Jewellery!

When I was little, there used to be a market every week or so in the small French village where I grew up. I remember always going straight to the same stall, which was run by a lovely woman who sold handmade jewellery. I would save my pocket money and spend it there, and even now, years later, I still have and wear some of those pieces, and they can immediately conjure up memories of being 7 years old in the southern sun. This is one of the things I love about jewellery; its ability to retain memories of where and when you bought it, or to remind you of who gave it to you and why. Jewellery endures, and can be passed down through generations. There’s something magical about that.

I began silversmithing in 2020, just after I graduated from the University of Manchester with an English Literature degree. I went on a course to learn the basics of silversmithing, and from then on, I was hooked, finding refuge in the calming, thoughtful, and imaginative process of creating jewellery. I immediately began to learn all I could about this ancient craft, starting by simply making jewellery for myself and close acquaintances. Over time, I improved my skills (making many mistakes along the way!), and I began selling my pieces at local markets and fairs. Eventually, I came to realise that silversmithing was the activity that brought me most joy in life, and I resolved to try and turn my passion into a real business venture.

I am fascinated by silver, both by the history and folklore which surround it, but also by the way that this strong and hard metal can be made so pliable when exposed to flame. I love starting the day with a strip of silver, and ending it having made a beautiful piece of jewellery, which only a few hours before didn’t exist except in my imagination.

Alongside Vivid Vixen Jewellery, I’m a freelance writer. When not working with words or silver, I can be found playing with my Golden Retriever puppy, renovating the crumbling Victorian house I own with my boyfriend, or exploring the beautiful Peak District, where I live.

I trade regularly at fairs in and around Buxton – you can follow me on social media to keep up to date with the events I’ll be attending.

If you have any questions about my jewellery, please feel free to contact me. Thanks for looking!
